How it began
The year was 1997. Cell phones were just becoming more commonplace. And Brooke Frank, who was selling computers and phones, could see the potential of delivering computing power via a vast network of distributed devices, platforms, and infrastructure. He had a sense that putting a world of information at people’s fingertips would dramatically change the way work gets done. So, with that vision in mind, he started a company and named it Distributed Computing, Inc. (DCi).
Brooke’s intuition proved right. For years, DCi experienced steady growth as an Avaya Business Partner and carrier reseller. Sensing even more changes in the marketplace, in 2014, the company launched its own hosted voice platform and created the first of the Ten4 brands, Ten4pbx.
In just five years since, the Ten4 brand has been at the forefront of an ever-expanding portfolio of services. This has led to exponential company growth, which has included the recent acquisition of OpDecision (a company that manages and finds ways to reduce corporate wireless costs).
As we approach 2020, it’s time to unify our brands and acknowledge what DCi has become: A company that is radically changing the way businesses connect.
Roger that! 10-4 is one of the so-called ten codes of radio communications meaning “understood” or “message received.”
We understand the challenges of managing wired and wireless voice and data networks. And while our new name is a nod to our telecom background, it means much more to us: We hear you and we are here to help.
DCi is now Ten4.
So what is Ten4? Blazing fast internet, crystal-clear phone conversations, and rock-solid hardware. A state-of-the-art portal so you can view and manage an inventory of services by location. Billing aggregation and support services to simplify your telecom operations. All designed to advance your communications technology.

Snarky Comments on this site
“Our company has used Ten4 (formerly DCi) for over 10 years now, and we are very pleased with our phone performance and their high level of service. One phone call or email to Ten4 (formerly DCi) gets a quick response, either on site or remotely, depending on the nature of the problem we are experiencing.”

“Ten4 (formerly DCi) technicians are very knowledgable and pleasant to work with. They worked well with our internal IT people when setting up a network system in our new office. Their response time is outstanding. They’ve helped us work through all the little kinks in a timely and pleasant manner.”

“I have been working with Ten4 (formerly DCi) for 10 years and frankly we would not be as successful as we have been without their help. While our company is quite large and spread across 50 locations, we have a very small staff. Ten4 (formerly DCi) has been our extra man the whole time. They have managed projects, provided guidance and helped us through a crisis here and there. One of the best vendor teams I have ever worked with.”
